The Alien Abduction Lamp

I think this is one of the coolest lamps I have ever seen. The Alien Abduction Lamp “is a lamp for Sci-Fi fans of all ages. A light bulb inside the metal UFO lights up the beam and the windows. The glass of the beam is frosted to distribute light in all directions.” It’s still in a concept stage, so it’s not manufactured, but I think it would make a great birthday or Christmas present for the little ones. The idea and design belong to Lasse Klein.

The Lamp also comes with 4 add-ons:

  1. Alien Abductors
  2. Bovine Abductee
  3. Human Abductee
  4. Multi-Function Antenna

Apple’s New Laptop:World’s Thinnest Notebook

Yesterday Apple announced it’s new product that when manufactured it will be “the world’s thinnest notebook”. The MacBook Air has:

  • LED backlit 13.3″ wide-screen
  • Keyboard with an ambient light sensor
  • Multi-touch track-pad.

Just like with the iPhone, you can rotate a photo by moving your index finger around your thumb, and pinch to magnify or widen to zoom out.  However, it does NOT have an optical drive. The MacBook Air will be starting at a price of $1,799 when it comes out. Do you think it’s worth it after having to waste money for the drive? The model will be with a 1.6 GHz processor with an 80 GB hard drive and be available in a couple of weeks.

Gmail: iPhone and Shotcut Update

Today Gmail announced a new look for the iPhone browser. The new features are: auto refreshing, auto complete when composing, and it loads faster when viewing mail. Furthermore, when you set up Gmail on your iPhone, Gmail will be converted from POP to IMAP. IMAP means that the iPhone access to Gmail and the web access are synced together, and each show which mail has been read, deleted, archived, etc. This also means that the message deleted on the iPhone will be moved to the trash on the web Gmail and deleted after 30 days, so be very careful when doing such a thing.

Now moving on to the Gmail shortcut update. Gmail added a new shortcut key that is for archiving mails. Until now Gmail did not have a shortcut for archiving (a bit strange since they have shortcut keys for everything else). Anyway the shortcut key is “e”.
