Free Online Malware Scanner

virus.gif I’ve been hearing about using online scanners to check if files are infected by worms, Trojans, spyware, or adware for quite a while. Personally, I have never used one until last night even though that’s one of the best ways to protect your computer (so foolish of me, especially since the file I wanted to use had a backdoor trojan). There are a lot of online scanners out there, so which one to choose from? In my opinion, the winner is: Jotti’s Malware Scan.
Jotti’s Malware Scan is powered by all of the online scanners provided. AVG, AntiVir, Avast, NOD 32, Sophos, Ikarus, and Zoner AntiVir are only few of the companies and software’s that provide a free scan that have been incorporated in the Jotti’s Malware Scan. The virus definitions are set up to be updated every hour to provide the safest scan possible. However, you can’t depend on this alone even if it shows that the file is clean it doesn’t not necessarily mean that is because a new virus could be on the loose.
There is a 10mb limit, which is the most that is allowed on the online scanners. Avast only accepts files less then 500kb, which can be used to scan text files or documents.
