How-To: Make a PowerPoint Presentation Versatile

When you have to open your PowerPoint presentation on a different computer to show it or present it there is big risk that it will not open up. This will be do to the fact that it wasn’t saved the right way to make it compatible with other versions or simply because that computer doesn’t have PowerPoint.

Once you are done with making the PowerPoint presentation, save the file regularly as you do with e (.ppt) extension in case you need to make changes. Then go to File > Save As and save it as a PowerPoint Show, a (.pps) extension. Now you will be able to open the PowerPoint Show file from any computer without needing PowerPoint to view the presentation.

The drawbacks, the PowerPoint Show file will not allow you to make changes to the slides so you need to be sure that it’s perfect before saving it in that format. Always keep it in a presentation format (.ppt) so you will be able to make changes to the slides.

How-To: Insert a Horizantal Line in Word Quickly

When you are in a rush trying to type up your report for school or work, you don’t have time to waste. Instead of wasting time going through the Borders and Shading box here is a quick shortcut to add a horizontal line to save you time.

To separate two sentences or two paragraphs with a horizontal line, put your cursor
at the beginning of the sentence that you want under the horizontal line. Then type “—“(3 dashes) and press enter. It will automatically change to a horizontal line.

It doesn’t have to be just a horizontal line; you can change it by using different characters for the short cut.

To remove it
Put the cursor directly above the line.
Select Borders and Shading from the Format menu.
Click the None box and click OK.

To prevent the automatic insertion of borders
Select AutoCorrect Options from the Tools menu.
Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
Uncheck Border lines.
(In Word 97, the menu item is AutoCorrect and the check box is labeled simply Borders.)

Free Text Messaging Around the World

I’ve been a T-Mobile user for a quite a long time, and I loved it because it was the only mobile service that offered a package for international texting. It was a great package since I have a lot of friends and relatives in Europeand it was cheap to text them. Couple of years ago, T-Mobile got rid of the international texting package, and every time I texted and received a message I got charged 35 cents, which by the end of the month added up to a lot of dollars since I did it frequently. That’s until I came across, provides free PC-to-mobile texting. offers free texting around the world without charging you a international message fee. I know for a fact you can text anywhere because there is no other service that will allow you to text to Macedonia or Serbia in Europefor free. You can set up an account with 3Jam or you can use their quick way to send a SMS free of charge. Once you have sent an SMS to your friend, he/she can reply to message received from 3Jam to answer you back. 3Jam gives you the feature of making conversations with your friends. You can also add 3Jam to your facebook for a faster way to text.
(USA) If you have a regular message plan, like me, where you have a certain amount of message per month then each message received or sent from your mobile by 3Jam will be counted toward you monthly message available. There will be no international message charge. Now I’m not sure exactly how it goes for the rest of the countries since I live in the US, but leave comments if you know to help our readers out.

Free Online Malware Scanner

virus.gif I’ve been hearing about using online scanners to check if files are infected by worms, Trojans, spyware, or adware for quite a while. Personally, I have never used one until last night even though that’s one of the best ways to protect your computer (so foolish of me, especially since the file I wanted to use had a backdoor trojan). There are a lot of online scanners out there, so which one to choose from? In my opinion, the winner is: Jotti’s Malware Scan.
Jotti’s Malware Scan is powered by all of the online scanners provided. AVG, AntiVir, Avast, NOD 32, Sophos, Ikarus, and Zoner AntiVir are only few of the companies and software’s that provide a free scan that have been incorporated in the Jotti’s Malware Scan. The virus definitions are set up to be updated every hour to provide the safest scan possible. However, you can’t depend on this alone even if it shows that the file is clean it doesn’t not necessarily mean that is because a new virus could be on the loose.
There is a 10mb limit, which is the most that is allowed on the online scanners. Avast only accepts files less then 500kb, which can be used to scan text files or documents.

Get Free Software for Playing Games

Don’t you just wish you can get cool, new software for free? Well Microsoft will give you free software for test playing their games. But as always there is a “but,” you can only participate once every two months, and you have to be chosen from hundreds of people that will be participating. Personally even if I do have to wait, I think that the experience is quite worth it. You don’t have to be an expert in games or even own an Xbox to be chosen for the game participation. You just have to complete the enrollment survey for them to contact you when they will have an opening to be able to participate. Once you have play tested a game for Microsoft, do not forget to fill out a shipment for free software to be sent to you as gratitude.
